First ever radio story I ever listened to

I just finished listening to a radio story and might I just say it was soo interesting. I listened to Doppelgangers by Fred Armisen and Ira Glass. I liked it because it was like a real story and I thought radio is only about the news, but no I was wrong this was both a story and the news all wrapped up in one little bow. Listening to this radio broadcast I think that this audio was very effective for storytelling through audio because it has a clear beginning middle and end. I personally love calamari and listening to this really got me thinking about have I eaten Bung before or not. I love how they put the background music and I think that all their music made sense right there and nothing was put there without great thought. I like how they layered the background music and the recording sounds in the back of them talking. I personally do not like radio but listening to this first part of the broadcast I was very interested in what they were saying I wanted to know what was going on and what the end was going to be like.  In the second part of this story the music that they used was more eerie and mysterious but scary. This story has an effectiveness of how dark and scary the world can be. All the pausing in the story makes it seem like the person that is talking was more of trying to keep his emotions back it makes a huge statement in how the story is being told. I think another really good reason why this is a good story is  because I think that these people are telling their stories in a parallel sense makes it really stick out like this stuff can happen to anyone no matter if you are in the city in America or from an experience of war. Some types of techniques the produces used was layering sounds on top of each other and having no voices at all just sounds. The background for ambiance but which also made sense. Adding silence for just a few seconds it makes the story become all so real. Some choices that the producers also used was that it was like he recorded a bunch of things a head of time like for his notes and everything then he went back and told the whole story all together. I felt like he was narrating it all over again, he used the classic broken narrative. In learning about the techniques I really opened my ears to listen and I heard a lot of things that I would have missed if I was not looking for them. Some examples are they put a recording in the recording from Saturday Night Live, they talk over each other, sound effects, the show started with an introduction and a preview of what is going to happen, show bumper, background music to set the mood, and music fades in and out.
