“The secret to film is that it is an illusion” – Georeg Lucas Week 11 and 12 Summary

These past 2 weeks have been full of video, editing, music, and frustration.  There has been so much waiting involved with the uploading to movie maker, publishing the video, and then putting them on youtube and here.

Looking back on what I was able to produce I was proud of what I accomplished.  Before these 2 weeks I had only done a short slide show video for an elementary school class.  These assignments had much more involved with them.  I found the actual filming to be the easiest part.  I had in my head what I wanted to do and what I wanted it to look like.  Making the happen was a different story.  The task took longer than I thought with all the loading, uploading, and downloading I had to do.  I learned a ton this week about movie maker, way s to tell stories, and other parts of the internet.

I complete the Charlie Chaplin video along with 17 more stars worth of video assignments.

The Chaplin video was the assignment we “had to do”.  I liked being able to take classmates elements and incorporate them into my own work.  I also enjoyed putting my own spin on the silent film.  I think it went well.

My How to video was not exactly what I was going for.  I like the musical element linking to the culture of origami, but I think the tutorial is hard to follow.  As I explained in the post I would like to add text, better information, and some of the common mistakes people make with it.

Fun Facts was my favorite video this week.  I was able to take something I know and enjoy and present it in a fun way.  Not only were the facts silly, but I added to the fun with my own quirks, and them the circus music element.  I think it makes it compelling and fun to watch.

The 5 Words assignment made me think.  Picking the words were easy, but making them tell a story was a whole other level of difficult.  I found the actual editing and “film” easy, it was the content that was difficult.  Im okay with how it turned out, but I am not completely sure how much I like it.

JURASSIC PARK: In theartres in 3D, on owlbereading Silent.  I think the trailer for this movie was perfect for a silent film.  By combining effects, color, text, and music I was able to get across what the movie is about.  Next time I will put a variety of music and sound effects to make it even better.

Finally I did a Narrative Ambiance.  I wanted to do this one because I enjoy poetry.  I love how it turned out from all sides.  The film, the color, the editing, and the audio.  I messed up some on movie maker, making a 9second film 11minutes long.  So just watch the first 10 seconds maybe and then shut it off.

These 2 weeks were a blast, but I am so glad they are over.  ALL THE WORK!
