Spring Break 2011 Status Blitz

I’ve been working tirelessly over the past few days to be all caught up by the time school resumes. I do have to say, I do enjoy the more lax pace in my work, but I’m starting to get tired of the isolation that I’ve put myself through to accomplish such goals. This might come as a bit of a random bit to some of you guys, but bear with me here because I think this is some interesting stuff.

I’ve put myself through quite a bit of frustration trying to make sense out of CS 305′s assignments, but the frustration was well worth it. It took off a bit of the mysterious shroud that has long concealed my face from the world of computing. Computers seem like magical devices, but what they really equate to are expensive calculators. I figured out the basics of Boolean logic and Boolean addition so that I could build a device called an Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU for short) within a virtual hardware simulator. Pretty much, what it does is simple calculations with the voltages that are passed through it. I don’t know what the exact purpose of what the instructor intends to have us do with our constructed ALUs, but from what I could gather, the ALU is a significant component of what makes a computer work. The part that I’ve found most intriquing while doing this assignment, is how all of my past knowledge could be applied to the production of the ALU. I thought, that classes that dealt with the fundamentals of Discrete Mathematics, Calculus, and a couple of other classes that I had the pleasure of taking were really just mostly for bragging rights, to make the college money, or to weed out the weaker links, but I’m glad to be proven wrong.

Whew! That was quite the tangent. Well enough of my ranting. The real point of this post is just to let you guys know that I haven’t forgotten about blogging and whatnot, I’ve just been busy working on a few things so that I can turn things around when school resumes after break. There’s going to be some serious eye candy later. I’ve pulled my DV camcorder out of the closet (droid’s camcorder kept force closing… probably shouldn’t even be using custom roms anyway), and I’ve blown off the dust on it, took off the cobwebs (this thing almost never gets used EVER) and it’s good to go. I’ll be working on my vlog. Also, I’ve been working on some HTML stuff for my youtube chanel. There might even be some custom images in that skin once I figure out exactly what I want to do with it. Anway, I love you guys. Keep it up with the good comments. Daddy’s going to bring you some candy just you wait!

…Uhh maybe that was a little creepy for a finish. Whatever.
