I think the author’s argument it the article Praxis 2.0: Escaping the edu-travelogue is very inspiring and fresh. I think it’s important for someone to express his or her creativity and I think it still counts as creating even if you are altering someone else’s work. I think that education today is boring and not practical. Teachers don’t let their student have enough room to breath or consider their input on anything. I don’t think mashups are plagiarism instead I think it’s more like people are honoring the artist’s great work and they are making it into their own creation. It’s just as creative as painting a brand new picture and it takes the same amount of effort. I think if an artist sees their work being edited they should be proud.
In the article Dr. Mashup; or, Why Educators Should Learn to Stop Worrying and Love the Remix. I think that mashups are totally a new art. Even though you are taking someone else work you are making it your own. I think anything that you create regardless of where it came form is now yours and you used you own artistic ability
Before taking Disto106 I had known fairly little about mashups. I have watched a few videos on Youtube, but beside that I had no idea what mashups were. After reading the two articles I think it’s really impressive how awesome mashups are. I really like it because it is a breakaway from hundreds of years of practice. We have the digital technology to alter someone’s work on the computer to make it are own. Yet if you think about it in larger perspective we are always get ideas and influences from others. This is my first time that really played around with IMovie and mashups. I’ve really enjoyed the reading article because it show how you can latterly take any famous piece of art and add your own personal touch to it. I don’t think a mashups can be thought of as plagiarism. It’ s up to the student to just simply create what they feel.
