A. Plot
Memphis Raines an ex master car thief swore to his mother he would never return to his criminal ways. Years later he is forced back into his former trade in order to save his younger brother Kip from Raymond “The Carpenter Calitiri” and his plans to kill him. Memphis needs to steal 50 cars in 72 hours in order for Raymond to let Kip go with his life. Memphis quickly reassembles his old crew including Otto a mentor,Sway a former girlfriend, Donny a former colleague and Sphinx, along with help from some of his younger brother’s associates.
With LAPD quick on the case Memphis decided to steal all the cars in once night. This action packed film is filled with twist, turns and beautiful cars making it one of my favorite movies ever since I was a kid.
Key Scenes
After reading Roger Ebert article “How to Read a Movie” a few elements I found throughout te film Gone in 60 Seconds were The Rule of Thirds and Dominant Contrast.
In the photo above I noticed Roger’s Rule of Thirds popping out. Raymond and his co worker (LAPD) are positioned to the right of the picture, “the good guys” or the positive view, while Memphis stands to the left “the criminal” or the negative view.
In the photo above I then noticed Rogers Dominant Contrast view where your eye is drawn to specific objects or traits do to, lighting, angle, background etc. In this photo your meant to see the actors as sneeky almost. You notice right away the entire group is together, which draws you to the conclusion some sort od mischief is about to happen. You also notice the only lights made available are from flash lights, and the angle it points toward is a car in corner sight.
Genre
The genre of this particular movie is an Action film
one of the troupes ive decided this film falls under is Chase Scene, not only are cool cars being featured, various scenic routes through the city are shown that is dramatically compelling.
another triupe this film falls under is just in time. Gone in 60 seconds reaches a point where the cars were seconds to late as well as the clip where Kip was just about to die but Memphis was there just in time to save him.
