Re-brand ‘Em

by
_cpzh4: The logo is an important part of a company. For this assignment, you are to choose a company and re-brand them. Take their logo and remix it, or start from scratch and make it your own piece of art. Need inspiration? Here's a cool site (http://www.underconsideration.com/brandnew/) that blogs about recent changes in company logos, and posts both the new and old versions. It can really highlight what subtle changes can do to a logo. , _cre1l: Design, _d415a: http://www.underconsideration.com/brandnew/, _d5fpr: Chris Randles, _clrrx: 118, _cyevm: DesignAssignments118, _cztg3: DesignAssignments, _d180g: 595

Over-Dramatic Reading

by
_cpzh4: Choose any written material (a song, poem, short book, excerpt from a novel, scene from a television show, news article, etc.) and record a dramatic reading. Read your selection in a way that alters the message of the original material (at an odd pace, overly excited, sad, etc. -- be creative, make it your own). Make sure you mention what it is you are reading, and who the author of the material is., _cre1l: Audio, _d5fpr: Chris Randles, _clrrx: 112, _cyevm: AudioAssignments112, _cztg3: AudioAssignments, _d180g: 565

Speculation Story

by
_cpzh4: Go to peopleofwalmart.com and choose a photo, then write and record a story (1 minute or less) about the picture. The story can be anything: what is happening "right now," what has already happened, or what is about to happen. Then combine the sound and photograph in someway (I used Windows Movie Maker). Google Maps Story

by
_cpzh4: Use Google Maps to tell a story! It can be the story of a trip you took, a trip you would like to take, a strange occurrence, a war, anything you like! The only rules are that you have to use Google Maps proper in order to tell your story, and post it here. haiku it up

by
_cpzh4: For the writing assignment, take a random Dailyshoot photograph and create a haiku using that image. Let the image inspire you to create a poetic haiku. Don't know what a haiku is? The most common form for Haiku is three short lines. The first line usually contains five (5) syllables, the second line seven (7) syllables, and the third line contains five (5) syllables. Haiku doesn't rhyme., _cre1l: Writing, _d5fpr: anagahama, _clrrx: 104, _cyevm: WritingAssignments104, _cztg3: WritingAssignments, _d180g: 525

Google Search Story (idea from Martha)

by
_cpzh4: Martha explains this perfectly on her blog: "Yes, I know that these are, technically, videos but the point is that they are using a functional web tool (the search engine) to actually enact a narrative. Video is just the means of capturing the narrative." Go this link, http://www.youtube.com/user/SearchStories, and create your own Google Search Story. It's not hard to do and it's fun! , _cre1l: On/In the Web, _d415a: http://alexjaffee.com/Thisismyblog/2011/03/my-google-search-story/, _d5fpr: Alex, _clrrx: 103, _cyevm: On/In the WebAssignments103, _cztg3: On/In the WebAssignments, _d180g: 520

Phake Tweets

by
_cpzh4: Use the Twister tool from ClassTools (http://classtools.net/twister/) to generate a series of images representing the voices of past figures if they could express themselves in twitter. Notch it up, and recast a historical event with a new plot line, and notch it up again, but making it a back and forth between two figures (use @person!) - my example is not developed as a fanfic, but should give you an idea of what to do (okay, okay, I will do a real assignment, sigh)., _cre1l: Fanfic, _d415a: http://cogdogblog.com/2011/03/17/phake-tweets/, _d5fpr: CogDog, _clrrx: 99, _cyevm: FanficAssignments99, _cztg3: FanficAssignments, _d180g: 500

Seven Deadly Sins: Barbie-Style

by
_cpzh4: Grab your old Barbies, grab your child’s, buy a new one, or go to GoodWill or something. Would prefer it if you didn't steal it. Wouldn't want to be committing one of the sins as you were setting up the photo, would you now. ;) Then, take a picture of a scene with 1 or more Barbies demonstrating one of the Seven Deadly Sins: Lust, Greed, Wrath, Sloth, Gluttony, Pride, and Envy. Do all seven or just one. Take a photo and upload it to Flickr (label it the sin), post it on your blog, and tag it as requested. Explain your process and how you got to the final scene if you choose to do so., _cre1l: Visual, _d415a: http://nogoodadvice.somethingkindaooooh.com/2011/03/08/seven-deadly-sins-barbie/, _d5fpr: callean/Call_lean, _clrrx: 97, _cyevm: VisualAssignments97, _cztg3: VisualAssignments, _d180g: 490

Audio Book

by
_cpzh4: Take a book, any book, and record yourself reading it! You can add music and sound effects to make the story come alive. I plan on doing more of this for my future elementary classroom where students can take the recording home so they can have a bedtime story and/or where students can listen to the recording at a listening center in the classroom. Parents could even make an audio book with or for their children. How fun! , _cre1l: Audio, _d415a: http://alexjaffee.com/Thisismyblog/2011/03/gerald-the-elephant-and-piggie/, _d5fpr: Alex, _clrrx: 98, _cyevm: AudioAssignments98, _cztg3: AudioAssignments, _d180g: 495

Find your voice

by
_cpzh4: The best blogs are ones that express a person's personal voice: whether that be their sense of humor, wit, likes, dislikes that sort of thing. Find an example of a blog where the author's voice shines through their posts and give a reason of why you like their posts. Celebrity Radio Interview

by
_cpzh4: You may have seen parodies in which the camera cuts between an interviewee in a real interview and a fake interviewer, for example The Soup's interview with Miley Cyrus about being a vampire (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldNycG-IATY). The nice thing about doing this with audio rather than video is that you're not restricted to using responses from a single interview since you don't have to worry about making it look real. Record yourself asking questions to someone famous, then use audio clips of the celebrity from real interviews as the responses., _cre1l: Audio, _d5fpr: Matt Martin, _clrrx: 95, _cyevm: AudioAssignments95, _cztg3: AudioAssignments, _d180g: 480
