Unit 1: Bootcamp

Not technically a course this is another experiment in offering a full ds106 experience to open participants based on previous syllabi taught at the University of Mary Washington (UMW). The first was August-December 2013 as a “Headless ds106”. This Open ds106 is a re-organization of that experience, but without references to date or time- this could be something individuals or groups could do at any time, at any pace. See the full index to learn more.

Welcome to ds106, Hellbike (brilliant name!).

Thanks for the heads up on the link, will change it out directly.

Let me know if you have any questions, and see you on the internet.

I hate when that happens, and it happens a lot. We’ve swapped out Robert Hughes, which most students never enjoyed, for two newer videos.

Keep us posted! This crazy internet changes like every day…

Do you, as a person who represents this project and website, agree with “Good Mythical Morning” Video? These are two random dudes, with no basic knowledge or understanding of art history, talking about things they see for the first time in their lives; completly ignoring the concept behind certain art pieces (even though they are discussing conceptual art pieces!), and focusing only on craftsman side, which in some of discussed cases, are irrelevant.

Does it matter what I agree with?

The point is ask people to form their own reactions, not for us to tell them what they should be. The ds106 experience is one where we ask the participants to answer the question of what is creativity, what is art, what is a story, etc

No, the random dudes are no authority on art, but their attitude echoes how some people think of art. What we expect people is to reflect in their own digital spaces.

Hi, I joined/registered but I do not see my first mandatory blog post appearing on the participant blog and I don’t see my name in the sidebar either.

      Hi Daniel,

I just fixed that, let me know if you see your post on #ds106 now. Thanks for the heads up.
