I thought Tim Owens lecture was very good. He had a lot of ideas that really captivating. One thing that he said that I thought really spontaneous was that being comfortable is boring. At first I thought it was funny but with this class, being uncomfortable and spontaneous is the way to go. Expressing yourself in this matter may have a crazy outcome, but it almost definitely won’t be boring.
Another thing that was cool was his idea of “mashing” thing together to make something worth talking about. Making something ordinary to extraordinary as he says. Being as creative as you can be and multiplying that by 100 to get something unique and fresh.
I can’t say that I disagreed with his opinion on pop culture’s obsession with reality. I recently posted a blog myself saying how much I really hate Reality Television. There’s no point of them and all they do is pollute our minds with their useless plots and story lines that have no purpose whatsoever.
I think his approach on things is also very interesting. He talked about how the web has changed things so much for our generation that we tend to forget originality and creativity. Ds106 is the perfect antidote to me to resolve this ongoing problem. Using the web to be creative as you can be with the most outrageous(I mean this in a good way) assignments.
