Response to “Prof. Oliver Is that Really You?”

Now I really don’t mean to be rude or disrespectful at all in any way but watching Professor Oliver’s video was very uncomfortable. I mean the way his video was set up with his head popping in and out of “pure darkness” and his tone of voice was enough to creep me out. It honestly felt like I was watching a reality horror documentary.

A few pointers on his video did grab my attention. Most times, students tend to be a bit distracted in classrooms which shouldn’t come as a complete surprise being at how vastly technology has improved. Continuing to the point, he believes that students that who really want to learn can really learn if they put their heart/soul into it. A professor can never force this upon a student and this is something that he saw. The students are the one that have to and are the ones who can lead themselves.

Taking CT101 is the first class that I’ve taken where I don’t necessarily have to be in the room. I mean I do go to class every week, however, once everything is explained for the week, I leave because I post everything online on my blog. I don’t have to be there for the extra hour or half-hour when I could be posting a blog up instead. It’s all about the student taking charge and that’s what Professor Oliver sees; it was very inspirational.
