Color Splash

Color Splash Horse, a photo by Ptuna28 on Flickr.

My next assignment is the color splash. I thought for a while about what photo I could use to emphasize one thing with color. I decided a horse and a jockey was a good choice. I didn’t know how to do this effect so I used google to figure out that it could be easily done at picnik.com. I uploaded the picture and made it black and white. I went back in with the “original” brush and decided to bring the color of the jockey back. This was for two reasons. Firstly, I liked the royal blue he is wearing. Secondly, when it comes to horse races I think people forget about the jockey. They are a very important part of the race and even though all bets are placed on the horse itself, the jockey plays a huge part in whether or not the horse will win. This was very easy to do with picnik and I think it turned out great.
