For my last visual assignment, I choose “Art Comes to Life.” When I saw this assignment, I knew I wanted to do it and I knew the exact photo I wanted to use. I choose to recreate Edvard Munch’s The Scream. This picture always makes me smile, just because of the man’s facial expression. I know that might sound a little weird because its suppose to be a scared man in a spooky setting, but I just find this picture interesting. It looks to be quickly sketched but the colors and strokes make this picture unique/creative. I know I did not get it exactly right but I gave it my best.
To complete this assignment, I went downtown to the city docks. There is a little wooden bridge that overlooks the river. There is where the picture was taken, to capture the wooden fence and the water in the background like the original picture. I wore a black coat and pulled my hair back to resemble the man the best I could. Then I tried to pull off the facial expression, which was hard for me to do without laugh! I had a friend take the photo on my iPhone. This photo was taken during the day so I used Photoshop to make it look like the sun was setting. To do this, I uploaded the picture into Photoshop then I added a photo filter layer. I used the warming filter (85) with a density of 57 and preserved luminosity. I was a lot of fun trying to recreate this piece of art. It was also my first time using Photoshop, so it was a lot of trial and error but I am glad I could get my feet wet. Enjoy!
