Design Assignment 4 – Alternative Book Cover

For this assignment, I did Alternative Book Covers. Rating: ??

This assignment really wasn’t very hard. I just had to pick what book I wanted to do. I was trying to think of some of my favorite books and I was torn between The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold and The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. I decided on The Lovely Bones because I figured if I did something with an actual bone it would completely change what the book might actually be about.

The Lovely Bones is about a young girl that gets raped and killed by one of her neighbors. It’s a really, really sad and pretty upsetting book, but it’s a really good story. I changed the cover by setting the words against a picture of a humerus bone that I found on Flickr. I think the picture I chose to use kind of makes it seem like maybe the book is about the life of an archaeologist or something. Or some kind of bone doctor. I’m really not sure, but I definitely don’t think this cover has anything to do with the book.
