1. Really Reality TV: For this assignment I had to create a reality TV show following a set of guidelines that helped randomize it. I ended up creating Malibu: The Interventions. I really enjoy this kind of assignment because I like how you can take random pieces from the internet and put them together to create something new and cohesive. This assignment was worth 3 stars.
2. Bad Guy Business Cards: Need a Fur Coat? I created a business card for Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians. This assignment was the first time I fully mastered the use of layers in GIMP, yay! This assignment was worth 2 stars.
3. Re-Brand ‘Em: I hadn’t planned on doing this assignment when I was first looking through the assignment bank, but when I came across it again I was inspired to create this remix design of the Ariat logo. Changing around a logo made me think a lot about the significance of colors in a logo; when I changed the original Ariat colors of black and gold to hot pink and lime green, well, that gives off quite a different vibe! This assignment was worth 3 stars.
4. DS106 Propaganda Poster: This assignment was only recently added to the assignment bank, and when I saw it I immediately knew I had to do it. So much fun!! I love propaganda posters…and I think that my Women Wanted for ds106 poster turned out pretty well. This assignment was worth 3 stars.
5. Minimalist TV Poster: I struggled with this one a bit; I really wanted to do it but I had a hard time coming up with a movie that had a simple enough iconic image associated with it. I settled on creating this poster for the movie City of God. This assignment was worth 3 stars.
6. For my last star, I wrote a post about the in-class assignment I did with two classmates, where we created a postcard for a character in a movie. We decided to create this one for Mulan, writing back to her parents about her journeys in the army.
And that was my 15 stars’ worth of design!
