Trapped in the Closet with Dr. Love (+ Bloopers!)

Okay, and that’s a wrap! Trapped in the Closet with Dr. Love has just broken free from the closet and is ready to broadcast:

Recording the final stretch was a bit of a challenge, trying to think up about three minutes of solo material, but we definitely needed it. Dr. Love just hadn’t played a significant enough role before that to justify why he’s the headliner. The man with a PhD in loveology should be able to carry three minutes easily.

The only other thing that proved difficult was normalizing the track manually. Michael was usually closest to the mic (and loudest) so I had to bring everyone else’s voices up a bit. If we could do it again, I just would’ve had everyone sit closer to the mic (in a room with better acoustics), but hey, it all worked out. As well, some of our sound clips really needed some work to keep them from becoming too loud and annoying (like the faucet running in the first commercial) or from distracting the listener (like all the music in the background).

But that music definitely helped a lot. Much better radio show with it, and it gave us another angle to joke around. We used it to emphasize some of the awkward moments or tonal shifts by either cutting the music altogether or lowering/raising the volume. It’s cool how you can focus how someone is listening and what they’re paying attention to most.

And, as a bonus, here’s our blooper reel:

Those definitely aren’t all of them, but they’re the ones I happened to have the mic on during.
