Overall experience with this project: one word – STRESSFUL! First of all, one of the challenges we faced was finding times to meet. With spring break, this was really difficult since not all of our group members were going to be available. However, not only was it a challenge to get everyone together but Emily and I had a lot of issues with places being available/open to meet. But we did the best we could! Another issue we faced was we recorded on two computers and then had to go back and cut and paste some parts that were better heard on the various computers. Never will do that again! Also we got confused about the requirements and the length, which added to the stress. After clarification was received, we were able to get back on track again.
Even with all of the stress, I still had fun creating the radio show. We tried to make it sound like a real radio, so less script more conversation, which lead to a lot of laughs- and I really mean A LOT!! I liked the idea of coming up with our own show, picking the topic and designing and creating. And I enjoyed learning how to add background music and sound clips.
I thought overall we worked well together as a group. We all had our work done when it was suppose to be, and we were able to voice opinions. I became better at using Audacity, I am far from a pro but I feel somewhat better about my ability. Doing this project, we got to experiment with some of the features in Audacity like turning up and down the volume, amplifying and deamplifying. I learned how to convert sound clips to MP3s. I am glad we had to do some “get ready/practice” audio assignments before being thrown right into this.
The designing of the show was pretty easy and quick. As soon as we got together and started talking the ideas started rolling. And BAM- we had our show all planned out. The recording took some time because we had to re-record some. But it was the cutting and pasting from the two computers and the editing that good an awfully looooooong time!
Even stressful projects can be fun! It was definitely a learn as you go experience!
