For my first Pre-production Video Assignment, I choose to outline and describe what you would need to do for the Make a Scene from a Horror Film assignment : Recreate (or make your own!) scene from a horror movie. The horror scene I choose to use for my inspiration is the first scene in the movie Urban Legends, where the girl gets decapitated while driving down the road. The reason I choose this scene is because I was so scared after seeing it that I checked the back seat and trunk of my car for like a week before getting in. Now, while everyone else may not think this movie is very scary, I must tell you, I am a HUGE chicken. I can’t watch a scary movie by myself and after watching one, I have to sleep with my light or tv on for a while. The thing that is creepy about this movie is it’s about the urban legends actually happening, urban legends are suppose to be just that legends that may or may not have happened in the past, but they are most certainly not suppose to happen in the present.

What to do to remake this scene:
1. Gather props: car, gas station, gas station attendant, an axe, a girl, secluded highway, costumes, and a killer
2. Get script and have the actors memorize their lines.
3. Set up the scene: Recreate the gas station on the side of the road (has to look kind of run down)
4. Practice the scene: Have the girl be driving down the road when her gas light comes on, so she pulls into this creepy gas station, where an even creepier gas attendant comes to pump gas. He goes inside to run her credit card and then comes back out to tell her that the credit card company needs to talk to her. Hesitantly she goes inside, when the guy locks the door, she freaks out, she sprayed him with pepper spray and escapes. When she gets in the car, the gas attendant runs out (ps, he has a stuttering problem) and finally yells someone’s in the back seat. But his warning comes too late, as she speeds off and moments later has her head removed by an axe.
5. Test equipment – cameras, microphones, etc
6. Put costumes on
7. Wait to night time to film
8. Time to film.
9. Edit the film: If anything needs to be cut or retaped, add background music, etc
10. Rewatch film to make sure its in the final form
11. Show to newly created scene to everyone!
