Return to the Silent Era (5 Stars)

So as I stated in an earlier post, I wanted to use a “True Grit” trailer for this assignment. Well, I did. And I think it turned out pretty well!

I made a few changes to the trailer to make it more similar to a silent movie. I added a few intertitles, but not too many; I didn’t want to overdo it. I changed the tint, and not even manually. I downloaded this free video editor called VideoPad Video Editor. It’s awesome! It actually has an effect where you can make a clip seem like an old film. It made this assignment fairly simple. I also turned off the audio in the trailer and added the instrumental version of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” by the Charlie Daniels Band. I thought it was a classic, old country song that would go well with the theme of “True Grit.” Finally, I increased the production speed, but only a little. After a little bit of experimenting, I realized it wasn’t right to speed up the trailer TOO much; it would end up flying through it and it would be difficult to really get anything from the trailer. Here goes nothing!
