Recreating A Scene From Urban Legend!

For my next 4 stars (21 to go), I decided to complete the assignment Re-creating a Horror Scene: The guide lines are to choose a movie and recreate a scene from it or create your own horror scene.

I blogged about recreating this scene for last weeks pre-production assignments, so I already had the idea and the props in mind. To begin the process of recreating, I re-watched the scenes and took notes to make sure I got the key aspects of the scene. I had to make a few changes, namely it was storming in the movie but it was not storming when I filmed my movie. Next, I had to stop and ask the owners of a little gas station out by my house for permission to film at their location after they closed. I then talked my cousin into being the creepy gas attendant, my sister in law into being the girl who looses her head and my boyfriend into being the head chopper. It turned out it was a family affair, because not only was my family the ones who were in it but my brother and other cousin came to watch the filming and we were all having a great time. PS. I was directing and filming. We used the gas station and my garage to create the scenes. I used a sound from freesound.org for the leaving the phone off of the hook (http://soundbible.com/261-Phone-Off-The-Hook.html). And I downloaded the song Turn Around. Then I used my Flip video camera to do all of the filming. I used VideoPad Video Editor to do all of the cropping and inserting the phone off the hook sound and the music, I put the clips together and saved the project as a movie. Uploaded it to Youtube and then included it in my blog!

Overall experience = Fun! Best video assignment by far!

I did not include any creepy sound effects, 1 because there was not in the movie other than the storm, but I thought it would be silly to include lightening sounds when there was no storms and 2 because I thought the video was pretty okay without sounds.

It’s not the best horror scene but I gave it my best try and overall I am pretty pleased with how it turned out and the fun I had making it!

Here is my clip, enjoy! :)
