Analyze This …

Okay, so for my class we are moving into our video unit.  We had to analyze a movie or TV show using common TV tropes or idioms.  I LOVE vampire stuff.  I fell in love with Twilight before it got huge, read Vampire Diaries when I heard it was becoming a show, and I watch Vampire Diaries religiously (it’s my favorite show!).

After looking through TV Tropes, I saw that Vampire Diaries obviously falls with in the main category of “Paranormal Trope” and the subcategories of  ”Vampire Werewolf Love Triangle” and “Ghostly Chill”.  The “Paranormal Trope” is described as being “those things that are spooky but not outright magical.”  This scene depicts Caroline (vampire) and Tyler (werewolf) and how they are trying to make their relationship work- obviously this is to show the “Vampire Werewolf Love Triangle”.

The paranormal trope is defined as not being exactly magical. However, there is A LOT of magic involved in this show as well. Which is one reason why I love this show so much; I love magic and witches and stuff. In this clip you can see when Bonnie first learns how to use her powers. (Sorry, it won’t let me embed this!)

Lastly, there is obviously a romance trope. There is forbidden love, human and vampire love, “real people” love, etc. Love is all over this show! All though some people may differ, I am a complete Elena and Stefan fan and I CANNOT wait for him to be nice again!
