So for my first remix assignment, I used the remix generator and got Unlikely Intersections [Remixed]: Happy Days (5 Stars).
The directions to the original assignment were: Take a photograph of a street sign showing the intersection of two names not likely to meet. No photoshopping, it has to be real! Keep noticing what is around you. The remixed card directions were: Take an assignment back to the time of the sitcom Happy Days, set in the 1950s. Introduce the design elements of this time, or maybe add the Fonz to a scene.
The idea behind the remix card I think is to use someone else’s original assignment and apply the remix card to it. To complete this assignment I choose to use Mr. Alan Levine’s Queen and Hooker Street Intersection image seen below:
I found Alan’s image from his blog: http://cogdogblog.com/2012/01/04/unlikely-intersections/
Now my job was to remix this assignment by taking it back to the time of Happy Days! To do this I thought what is more Happy Days than the Fonz! So guess what? That’s who I added to the image. I then turned the image black and white to give it the old time feeling because that is what I picture the TV’s in the 1950 to be, black and white, for the most part, I think.
Here is my remixed image:
I think overall it came out pretty well, because Fonzie was a ladies man, he had no problem for the most part finding a lady, and for him to be standing under this intersection with a huge smile and a thumbs up is just funny to me! I picture him saying “Ayyy!”
I saved Alan’s image to my computer and opened it in Photoshop, then I Googled an image of the Fonz and saved it to my computer. I opened the Fonz up on another page in Photoshop and used the Pen Tool and carefully outlined the Fonz. I then clicked make selection. I used the Refine Edge tool to make the edges smoother. I just played around with the settings until there were no more jagged edges around the Fonz. Then I cut the Fonz from that page, and pasted it into Alan’s Unlikely Intersection picture. I positioned it in the correct spot by clicking the Move Tool. Then I turn the image to black and white. Finally I saved the newly remixed image to my computer and then inserted in my blog above.
This remixed assignment went pretty well. I was able to incorporate 2 Happy Day’s remixes.
