Seeing Sound — Remixed Radio Bumpers

This remix assignment uses the media bender card on the create a ds106 radio bumper assignment.  I decided to see if I could take sound into visual design.

I had to search through a few of the original assignment submissions before I found one of the radio bumpers that was available to download.   I ended up using this bumper from muzzums.com.  I downloaded it, opened it up in Audacity, zoomed in a little bit, and then took a screenshot of part of the sound wave.

Then I opened up the screenshot in Photoshop to change the colors.  To change the colors, I went to the Image menu –> Adjustments –> Replace Color.  In the Replace Color window, I unchecked the option for localized color clusters, turned the fuzziness option down to 0, and selected each color from the original to alter.

Since it was a bumper for ds106 radio, I added that in text to the image.  To mirror the edges of the audio wave in the text, I duplicated the image I had just made, placed the text over it, and made a clipping mask, and then placed that text back onto the first image.  Pretty simple to do overall.
