Remixing Fat Cats in the Fog with Red Fish & Blue Fish

This remix assignment poses the challenge of adding Dr. Seuss to art that has already been improved with the addition of a fat cat.  Browsing through all the fat cat art, I found Jim Groom’s The Fat Fog Warning, and figured I may as well add a red fish or a blue fish.

I opened up the original in Photoshop, then found an image of Seuss’s fish, which I opened up as a separate layer.  Then I used the quick selection tool to cut out each of the fish and paste them into their own separate layers. To change the sizes and positions of the fish, I went to Edit –> Free Transform, and rotated/scaled them. For the white fish, I erased the parts that were outside of the boat. Originally I was just going to replace the original fish in the boat, but I wasn’t sure that it looked Dr. Seuss enough, so I added the other two into the water as well.  I used the quick selection tool again to cut out pieces of the water, pasted them onto new layers, and moved those layers above the fish so that they looked a little more like they were supposed to be there.

Here is the pretty absurd end result:
