TrueFarms

My mom just sent me this awesome e-mail. Its a video created by one of my dads employees.

Not sure if I’ve told you all, but a few years ago my dad (who was recently retired at the time) stumbled upon the idea of starting his own business. After spending the majority of his career in the corporate world (Nextel International) he wanted to get dirty. So we broke ground and built our own greenhouse where we grow hydroponic lettuce and herbs. By we, I mean my father, myself and several of my college friends with a couple of guys my dad used to work with at Nextel that also wanted to get dirty. We built the first greenhouse a couple summers ago–by ourselves. I can’t even begin to tell you how rewarding this work experience has been for me, not to mention inspirational. Starting a small business in this economy is not exactly the easiest thing. Truefarms now ships to over 11 Giant grocers in the Northern Virginia and D.C. area. In addition we sell to a handful of high end restaurants in the same area. You can find us at www.truefarms.com. What’s so exciting is that recently we decided to build our second greenhouse! We are starting in August. We’ve been featured in a number of local newspapers and local tv stations. Look for truefarms lettuce, arugula, and basil in a grocery store and restaurant near you!
