Further thoughts on final project…

Still a little bit uncertain as to what exactly I’m going to do for my final project. I’ve taken a bunch of video of my horse around the farm, and wrangled my sister into videotaping me riding him, so I have plenty of footage…the question is what I’m going to do with it.

I initially wanted to do a day in the life of Felix type story, but I am really struggling with how I am going to narrate it. Felix is a male, and I am obviously female, so I’d probably have to bribe some dude into narrating the story for me. I tried messing with Audacity’s pitch change tool, and it made my voice sound really dumb and mechanical, so I am kind of leaning away from that.

The other idea I had was based off of one of my favorite videos when I was younger. It was called The Little Horse That Could, and it’s about a small Connemara event stallion named Erin Go Bragh. I really tried to find a clip or a trailer on YouTube but to no avail. Essentially, it’s a documentary about eventing told from the horse’s point of view. This appealed to me because it’s a little bit more extensive and interesting than simply “a day in the life of my horse” but I am running into the same problem of narrating with a male’s voice. I could do it just as a regular Eventing documentary, narrated by myself, but I’m not sure that I have enough footage of day-to-day eventing care and show stuff. I could try to integrate some pictures….

So that’s where I’m at right now. My friend Effie (http://effiejones.com/) thought the whole Black Beauty idea was cool, so that gives me a little bit of confidence. She seemed to think that it was better to narrate it myself so I’ll look into that. She’s working on finding a way to mesh a bunch of somewhat random clips that she has, into one cohesive story. It’ll be interesting, I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
