Reminiscing in a Digital Age.

When I think about storytelling I think of being a little kid again. Whether it be my mom telling be a bedtime story so I would have peaceful dreams, or me telling her a story about eating all my dinner so  I could have dessert. Storytelling was a big part of my childhood, my mom was a teacher so she was always buying me books. I remember having picture books and making up a story to go along with them. Then I would “read” them to my little sister. I remember stories always having a hidden message or lesson in them and I remember always being able to pick it out.

Also, story telling reminds me of telling ghost stories at sleepovers. We use to make it a contest to see who could tell the scariest one. It also makes me think of ancient tribes telling stories to their children and passing the stories through generations.

When we add “digital” into the mix I think of telling stories through modern technology. I am have mixed emotions about this. I feel like it takes away the personal aspect of traditional storytelling. Instead of someone telling a story or holding a book in your hand I imagine it being some sort of electronic device telling the story. On the other hand, how cool is it that we have the technology to tell us a story DIGITALLY? Pretty dang awesome!

Before it was all books and and people telling each other stories, now there is a big online world of blogging, tweeting, and pinning.  Who knows what will be next!
