Playing the Guitar

Note: Must have an iPhone to complete this tutorial. And have good hand eye coordination.

This is a photo of me from this summer. The company that I was interning for had a company picnic, and had several little competitions. One of these competitions was a hula hoop contest. I won–my hips finally paid off for something. And this gem (the blow up guitar) was my prize. Don’t hate on it, I love it. Anyways, so, to demonstrate my love for it I chose it to be the victim of my visual assignment.

For this assignment, I downloaded a free app on my phone called “Dash of Color.” This app is pretty cool. It takes a photo that you either have in your library already, or allows you to snap one. From here your picture will be turned to gray-scale automatically.

Once changed, on the bottom of your screen you will see 5 different buttons, all labeled: “gray-scale”, “color”, “zoom”, “undo”, and “finish”.

To begin, select the color button. Zoom in on the object you want to change back to its original color. Then, using your finger tip, carefully fill in the details of your object. If you make a mark that you did not mean to you can either use the gray-scale button again and change it back, or you can press the undo button. When you are satisfied with your picture, press the finish button. It will ask if you would like to tweet this photo, add it your phone’s library of pictures, share it on facebook. email it, and a plethora of other options. Choose what you would like to do from there, and you are home free. Share your picture on the ds106 assignment site! I would love to see what you all come up with, and the stories behind your photos.
