Week 6 Summary

Closing out the Design Week, I’d like to say that this class just keeps getting better and better.  I find myself wanting to do more and more each week and I love every second of it.

Design Safari – Loved doing this.  I actually bought a new point and shoot camera so I could make these assignments a lot more enjoyable.  Obviously I’ll be taking other pictures as well, but I thought that it would be easier if I had a nicer camera.  At the beginning of the semester, I was using my phone to take pictures and it just wasn’t going a justice.  Now though, the pictures that I take are a lot more vivid and I think that the elements that I picked stand out a bit more due to the detail that the camera provides.

Daily Creates – These daily creates are always fun to do.  I find myself picking the ones that have more to do with taking photos since I got that nice camera rather than video.  It’s a bit more convenient to take pictures as well rather than edit a video and upload it.  Doing that would take a lot more time.  I hope that we can get more Daily Creates that have more meaning to them rather than taking a picture of some green stuff for Vegetarian Day, but it’s still fun to do.  I think what makes it the most fun is that you literally never can guess what the next daily create is going to be.

Radio Show Poster & Radio Show Contribution – So, I’m excited for our group.  We’ve really gotten the ball rolling on our Radio Show and I think that we’re definitely going to have the best group.  We’ve got a Twitter hashtag that we are all using to communicate via Twitter which is #ADAAM.  If you are interested in following what we’re doing, search for that hashtag!  We’re all really enthusiastic about our Radio Show and we met Monday and all really get along well.  When you get a random group of five people, sometimes it’s hard to find common interests for working on a group project.  We are each bringing our own something special to the table though and it’s going to be a really great thing once it’s all completed.

Design Assignments #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, #8 – So, I look back on all of these and I realize how amazing it was making each one.  I challenged myself a bit more than I did last week with doing two 3 star assignments and then I accidentally did an extra one instead.  I liked doing these a lot more than the Visual Assignments because of how much more detail I had to include in each one.  It’s not that they took more time to do, but they were just completely different assignments.  Rather than just taking pictures, we were having to use different resources to manipulate the photos and actually create something.  Go figure that my description of a design assignment would be to design something -_-.  I’ll definitely be happy if we have to do more of these types of assignments in the future because of how much fun they are to do!

Reflection – Okay, so this week was just awesome. We got to do so many different types of assignments and I had a blast making each one of them.  Our Radio Show group is moving along really nice and we are all getting our work done at a reasonable time.  I’m excited to see what kind of finished product we create, but it’s definitely going to be something really awesome.  The Design Assignments were fun though and I hope that we get to do more of those.  I have a feeling that we’ll be working on a different category next week, but I’m happy with what we’ve done so far in this class.  It just keeps getting better and better!
