Week 11 & 12 Weekly Summary

So, this is coming in a bit later than I normally would have liked, but that’s really because these assignments have taken me a bit more time than I would have liked.  Having two weeks to do them was extremely necessary.  I really don’t think that I would have been able to complete them if I were only given one week.  Without complaining too much, let’s go ahead and jump in to the actual assignments and reflection.

Video Assignment #1 – Return to the Silent Era – This was one of my pre-production assignments and I probably had the most fun creating this one.  I really like making mashup videos so I probably had the most fun with this.  Since I was able to download the video from YouTube and then alter it in FCPX, I really enjoyed this one the most.  I didn’t have any troubles with it at all and would absolutely love to do something like this again really soon.  I hope that we’re able to create more mashup type videos before the semester is over!

Video Assignment #2 – Make A Tutorial For Your Mom – This assignment was a lot of fun because I got to actually use this in real life as well.  At first, it started out as a joke assignment.  I turned it in to something really serious though and actually created a tutorial that my mom could actually use.  I sent it to her in an email and she thought that it was a huge help.  I’m glad that I was able to create something that I could use in the future or that someone else could use in the future.  It really makes doing these types of assignments worth while because I’m not just doing them for a grade, they can actually be applied to real life!

Video Assignment #3 – Play By Play – Play by Play was another one of my pre-production assignments and I thought it would be a lot of fun to create as well.  This assignment was probably the most humorous out of the four that I chose to do.  If you watch this one compared to the other assignments that I did, you’ll understand why.  This one was just a lot of fun to play with in terms of laying over different audio levels and creating something entirely different.  Without spoiling too much, I just want you all to watch this one!

Video Assignment #4 – Tell A Story With No Dialogue – I would say that this is probably the assignment that I’m going to look back on and really enjoy the most out of the video assignments that I’ve created over the past two weeks.  This one was really just something that I know that I’m going to look back on and really appreciate.  Even if I wind up changing the audio or maybe editing the look of the video, just the content is something that I’m really proud of and am really going to just enjoy looking at.

In an overall reflection, I would say that the Video Assignments week was probably the one that I looked forward to the most.  As you can see, I chose to do three different five star assignments.  I really felt like challenging myself this week because this was probably my strongest area of the class assignments.  I think it really paid off though because I have something that I’m going to be able to take pride in showing people.  None of the assignments I feel like I created poorly.  I really felt like I put my all into each one of the assignments.  I think that’s why it took me so long to get them all done!  I’m glad it’s over, but I’m sad at the same time.  I hope that you all enjoy looking at my videos.  I’ve probably watched each one of them maybe a dozen times.  I really take pride in the videos I create, even if they aren’t really that great.  I’m just excited to be able to show people that I created something!
