Final Project Outline Plans

Okay, well since I really enjoyed doing the video editing and the mashup part of the class, I’m going to focus my final project on that.  Here’s what I’m thinking…

Since I used Jackson for my last mashup assignment, I’m wanting to focus on him again for this final project.  Here are the three elements that I’m thinking about using; Video, Audio, Mashup.  I’ll go ahead and break them down to the best of my ability at this point.

Video – I’m going to go ahead and do a lot of filming to make sure to get different elements and get him doing different things.  Since he’s so young, there is no way to get him to do something that I want him to do (yet) so I’m going to have to just start filming and see what I can come up with.  One thing that I was brought to attention was that, with a baby, there is no telling what he is going to do.  In that aspect, filming becomes very tricky.

Audio – I’m going to do my best to overlay audio to the video to make it seem like a Hollywood film.  I’m not sure yet as to how I’m going to do this but obviously I’m going to try to use the commentary that they use in trailers of big blockbuster films like, “Coming this summer to a theater near you…” and stuff like that.  I figured it would give the video an element of comedy as well.

Mashup – I’m going to go with the trailer theme and actually create a movie trailer based on the video that I have shot.  I’m thinking about having it look as realistic to a hollywood trailer as possible.  I want it to have the element that it’s going to be something that is shown in theaters.  The mashup part of this project is actually using bits and pieces from other trailers to create more suspense or drama or whatever element to what I already have.  I’m going to have to play with this a lot because I’m not sure how it’s going to work out.  This is definitely something that I’m going to have to start early.

I picked this idea because I really have enjoyed the last part of this semester.  For the entire semester, I was looking forward to doing the video editing and making things and editing and I really think that this is the part where I flourish the most.  Since that’s the case, there is no reason why I shouldn’t choose this for my final project.  As for my subject, I really like the idea of being able to look back on stuff like this so it actually means a lot more to me than just creating something else and having fun with it.  Since Jackson is so young, this is something that his mom and I will be able to look back on and show him a long time from now.

It says in the guidelines to have media pieces in the post, but I’m really not too sure what direction I’m headed in at this point.  I really just need some time to think about what kind of mood I want to go for, action or something like that.  The most prominent idea that I’m thinking of is to have a sort of Godzilla type movie where I get really close with camera angles looking up at Jackson to make it look like he is really big and to cut different parts from different trailers to have him sort of terrorizing the town or something like that.  Since he loves the camera so much, he won’t have any problem looking down at the camera and reaching out or falling down to the camera.  I’ll definitely play with the idea some more, but that’s what I’m thinking right now.
