For part of this week we had to look at past ds106 posts from the community and last semester’s class. I certainly was taken back by a lot of the posts on the in[SPIRE] page, but right away I was drawn to a certain picture. This really captivated me and I instantly had to click it. This picture of just an L and three dots has endless possibilities. The warm tones of the picture automatically made me think of “Love” but then it could really be any four letter word starting with the letter L. I really like how the mystery is there, but it is not too mysterious. I don’t really think that there is a shape to this story unless you come up with a back story. Maybe this person is saddened because she is not sure she will ever find love, so she knows the beginning of it, but needs to find the end (in that case I believe the shape would be in the form y=x). All the data is there, and it is just left for interpretation. Needless to say, I L _ _ _ this post.
Now looking at the last classes ds106 “best work” certainly kept me entertained. I am so excited to be doing some of these assignments in the future. Ironically the assignment I picked is one that I did this past week, it’s telling a story in five photos. You can see mine here, but that one that I really enjoyed is this one. I’m not sure whether it was the eggs having faces (something which I hope you typically do not see) that makes it so funny, but I was cracking up when looking at these pictures. I had my eggs talking in high pitched voices to each other and then one evil mean voice (like all villains should have). This story is told from the villain’s perspective, and so the shape is a little different than what the victim’s shape would be. The villains shape would be high to higher to the highest, to low to lower. Meanwhile the victim’s shape would be high to very low to non existent because he dies (such a sad tale). This is storytelling because it has a plot and even a twist with the villain getting captured at the end. I would say that this post was egg-cellent!
That’s enough puns for today,
