Adventures with Ghost: Chasing Color

One day, while the Fandom Princess was diligently studying in her chambers, Ghost was feeling quite restless and animated. He barked once, then twice, then three more times before the Princess rolled her eyes and looked at him.

ā€œGo roam around outside, Ghost,ā€ she said, turning her attention back to her scrolls.

Ghost snorted then trotted through the dog-hole in the front door of the Princessā€™s chamber. He walked down the large, cool corridor. Students that walked by pet his head nicely, and one even gave him a treat, but he still felt as if he wanted to run and play and cause some trouble.

Suddenly, a flash of bright red sprinted in front of Ghost. He stopped and looked around, the red flash disappearing. He trotted along, the corridor now empty as the students disappeared into their classrooms. The red flash zoomed past Ghost again, and he growled, now noticing the subject. It was none other than Ginger, the bright red cat that belonged to one of the professors. Needless to say, Ghost was not a big fan, and as soon as Ginger pause to hiss at Ghost, he shot after her, chasing her down the stairs, and barking wildly.

This went on until, unfortunately, Ghost lost Ginger in the study room on the third floor. He gave one loud final bark and trotted off, his urge to run and sprint around appeased.Ā

For my second Visual Assignment of the week, in which we have to get to 10 (Princess) stars worth of visual artwork, I chose to do the popular Splash of Color assignment! I was lucky with this assignment in the sense that I already have a pretty fancy camera (Sony Cybershot) that has a feature on it that allows you to take a picture and it automatically will highlight the dominating color for you! Thus, I didn’t have to worry about downloading an app or doing any fancy photo-shopping to get the outcome! The challenge was in finding a subject that this would work well, and creatively with!

I decided to use my mousepad because it has tons of different colors on it, already, but the red color is so dominant that I wanted to highlight it. So, I made sure to angle my camera a certain way, otherwise it would pick up focus and highlight the other colors in it (blue, green, purple) and after some trial and error, I was able to get the end result of the red being contrasted. What do we think?

A Mouse Among Flowers

When taking this picture, I also tried to use the photography techniques we had learned and changed the angle I was taking the picture at. The mouse I wanted to be in the background so that all the focus was the color and design on the mousepad!
