Valentine’s Day 2013 aired on February 8th, 2013. It starts off with a corny joke about a couple of physicists. They are at a bar, just kidding, at school because they are in training. However, as the radio show continues to go on you discover that this has nothing to do with the show. My initial reaction was this joke isn’t funny and I can tell I won’t be able to connect to this broadcast.
2 minutes into the radio show you find the radio personal calculating his chances of find a girlfriend. So initially I thought he’s a loser. However, I began to think about my life. I’m single. :O Maybe I should listen to these calculations to see what my chances are. All and all, it turns out that my chances are even slimmer than his. Ann arbor population is WAY smaller than Boston. My reaction was
I quickly realized I’m hooked. I found a connection to the broadcast. I wanted to listen more and I did. This opening was amazing!
Continuing on with the show, I love that they appeal to my senses. I got to imagine what the life of these people. What they look like and their facial expressions. This allowed me to connect more. I imagine each individual to look super star sexy. Why? Because I could; there was no video ruining it for me either.
Act Review:
Act 1: I love this act. It reminded me of the movie hall pass. I thought the concept of sleeping with other people to make sure you love me is a dumb idea. My husband, boyfriend, or boo, will never get my approval to go kick it with another woman. I REFUSE.
Act 2-4: Were so hard to follow. It was so long that I was just hearing not listening. All I can recall was something about falling in love with an undercover cop and then a duck loving a rock. Past the duck I officially clocked out.
Overall, I think the show was nice. I enjoyed the different stories on love. Although, many seemed fake, you felt a sense of truth behind them. This was due to the level of connectivity between the listener and the storyteller. My only criticism was the length. Possibly breaking the show up into days would have hooked me more into the station than just this one day.
