Response: Masters of photography – Diane Arbus (documentary, 1972)

This documentary was very interesting. While I wasn’t a fan of the documentary commentary in the beginning, I could feel her passion about her mothers work. Her mother was able to take pictures of the simplest things and make them beautiful.  I appreciate the reality of the individuals and their personality coming out. She was a fan of “freaks.” Yet, her documentary calls to action us, the people, to find the beauty in people not just the flaw. I love her quote “if we scrutinize reality closely enough, it become fantastic.” This is true. The flaws, events, and all in between has potential to be beautiful. Her examples of the success to work with awkwardness inspires me to try more.
