In the political desert of Washington DC…

…one prickly man stands above the rest.

For my first visual assignment, I decided to try my hand at illustrating an odd Google autocomplete. The assignment that I chose from the Visual options was this one. I picked this particular assignment because, to be perfectly honest, I found it amusing. I love hilarious Google autocompletes, and the things that pop up sometimes are completely baffling. The two autocompletes that I liked the best (after many random entries) were:

I hate it when chinchillas eat the world.

and

I hate it when Obama is a cactus.

Because photos of chinchillas baring their teeth are remarkably hard to find, I decided to go with the Obama photo. To edit it, I used the GIMP editing tool. I used multiple layers to tint his skin that lovely green color and to add all of the spines. I just duplicated layers of the same spine, then rotated them accordingly. I also screen-capped the Google bar and added it the final layer.

Behold:

The original photo of Obama was completely generic, and I found it by an easy Google Image search. I had a lot of fun with this assignment, and I’m looking forward to the next!
