Expressive Capability (Assignment 1)

As I watch the videos Dr. O assigned, I am amazed at how much I do not know. I seriously sat there at some points and thought to myself..”what is he talking about?”

In his essay, Campbell said the following, “Only a few faculty had the curiosity or stamina to brave this new world.” I feel like this is where I was just a couple days ago. I didn’t have the curiosity to explore this new world of digital storytelling. However, I now have just a glimpse of what is to come, and while it is difficult it is also intriguing.

This idea of creating and discovering your own “stuff” is a fascinating concept. We students have our own ability to create our own worlds. Campbell used the example of the Biglittleplanet game.

I have to admit I am quite confused at everything that’s going on..and it’s only the first day of class!!!

One idea that Campbell had was “finding my unmet friend.” That is one accomplishment that I want to make after this 5 week course.

One thing I have to disagree with Campbell on was when he said that every book will be digitized and that that is a good thing. I don’t know about any of you but I love feeling the book in my hand and actually turning pages. While technology is a wonderful thing, I feel like we could use too much of it.

During this course, I hope to “discover” this new me in this new world. I am excited about all the new possibilities! Thanks Dr. O!!
