The Big Caption

For my second design assignment, I decided to do The Big Caption. I realize that it is incredibly similar to The Big Hip Hop that I did, but I really liked the assignment so I decided to do another. I have really taken a liking to The Big Picture. I took a picture that was taken back in February of the turmoil in Egypt. The picture is of a woman in a coffee shop awaiting the announcement of President Mubarak’s resignation. This woman is praying, along with other anti-government demonstrators that Mubarak really does resign and Egypt could then be free again.

I try to be a funny person, because a life without laughter isn’t really that fun. Since this picture is of a woman and there are men also in the coffee shop but they are blurred out, I decided to add a funny element. It sort of looks like this woman is looking at one of the men so I decided to add “Please, Please Please… Ask me out!” to the photo. This is completely different than what the photo actually is, but I thought it was kind of comical. I followed the tutorial from Tim Owens again and used Aviary. I don’t like this one as much as my Las Vegas one, but I like the assignment. I wish I had been able to make the text bigger after I added the shadow, but oh well. At the same time, it’s supposed to be her thoughts so the fact that it’s small and above her head makes sense. Okay, enough of my explanations, here is my  Big Caption design assignment :) :
