To all the lovers

“A life without love is no life at all” – Ever After

One of my favorite movies and one of my favorite quotes as well.  First off, Happy Valentine’s Day!  I guess I am part of that group that some people do not like because I am biased towards liking this holiday since I have a boyfriend.  On the contrary, I am not a big fan of Valentine’s Day.  I think it is a hallmark holiday that just gets people to waste money on flowers, chocolates, and corny cards.  Although I do appreciate getting things like that, it is not a necessity in my eyes.  What matters most is that I am appreciated all year round, not just on February 14th.

I believe that everyday should be Valentine’s day, and not just for your significant other but for everyone in your life.  Why do we only focus on our significant others on Valentine’s Day?  We have parent(s) (or someone like parent(s)), grandparents, aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, good friends, cousins, god parents, etc that should be loved as well.  In addition to preparing a little something for my boyfriend, I took the time out to write cards to my parents, sister, brother, and grandparents.  They’ve been with me my whole life, why shouldn’t they get some love also?

So my title may have thrown you off, but when I say “to all the lovers” I am directing that to everyone because everybody has someone to love or be loved by.  On days like this where we are forced to remember love as well as every other day, you should save the time and make the effort to show those you love that you do love them.  It’s sad but true: you do not know how long you have left with these people.
