Week 1 is here. Raise your hand if you’re excited to JUMP IN?
This course was first developed last year, and last summer was the first semester we taught it. You’d think it would be much easier, no big deal, since we’ve done it once, but all the excitement and feelings from last year are BACK!
In Week 1, we go big together- you’re not in this alone. We join the online Twitter conversation using the course hashtag [#CuriousCoLab], we get to know others in the #CuriousCoLab community, and then we start sharing and linking research interests and ideas.
But first, 5 Things for Jumping In:
Click! Click! Click!
Spend some time getting to know the course website – click around. It’s all right there. At first it may appear mildly messy, but then it will start to come together.
Explore the calendar.
We jump in deep day 1. Get to know what’s happening today and what’s up ahead. Take a look at the learning activities and see what’s expected each week.
Open/Join/Sign up.
You will need to open accounts to get started. We have elaborate instructions to help with this. See the Participate tab on course website. Make this a priority for today.
Say hi.
Introduce yourself on Twitter. See who else is out there. Use the hashtag, share a hyperlink or a funny gif, connect to a stranger, and have a conversation. Read @Googleguacamole’s blog for tips on better tweeting.
Have fun.
If it’s not fun, we’re doing it all wrong. By creativity and fun-making, you will get more out of the course and make better connections. LOL is embedded into your learning activities.
