Pink Al Gore

The third remix I attempted was combining Patty Pioneers with the Pretty in Pink Remix card (???).  This remix was really easy. All you had to do was use someone else’s work from the Patty Pioneer assignment, and make it pretty in pink, which was described as: “Molly taught us all that everything is prettier in pink, so make that assignment more pink somehow, either literally or metaphorically.”

I used Nikki Rimes’ original work from Patty Pioneers to create my remix. She used a picture of Al Gore and put a sub sandwich in his hand. I then took her creation and using Gimp, made Al’s shirt, tie, and hair pink.

I used the paintbrush tool and turned the opacity down to about 50% and just went over the areas I wanted to become pink. I used several different shades and hues of pink to make the tie, shirt, and hair all different. I thought about making the whole thing just kind of washed in the color pink, but then I decided that wasn’t really a challenge at all so I went with my other idea.

I like what I came up with, it looks like Al Gore loves breast cancer awareness and Subway.

I thought this remix was pretty easy and probably only worth the 3 stars that I earned by doing it. I could see the whole “pretty in pink” thing being abused though if people did the kind of thing I originally wanted to do, where you just wash the whole picture in the color pink. Or at least it could be if that card was remixed with a visual, design, or video assignment. I really don’t know how someone could make an audio assignment “pretty in pink.”
