Now that summer is creeping up around the corner, AKA bathing suit season, this is about the time of the year I stress out the most.  This is the time of year, not only me, but it seems like everyone around me is dieting, working out a lot, and complaining about how they look.  It is easier said than done, but we have to be more positive about our bodies!  I am going to start listing things that my body can do instead of what my body is not.

  • My body is strong
  • My body is curvy
  • My body allows me to run
  • It always has energy
  • I have healthy skin
  • My hands allow me to draw and paint
  • My eyes allow me to see all that I need
  • Most importantly, I am healthy.

I could keep going with my list, but I think that is sufficient enough.  I think it is time that we start celebrating what we can do instead of what we can’t.  In Glamour magazine, Scarlett Johansson said, “I can’t look at somebody who is 6 feet tall and 120 pounds and say, I’m going to get that body. That’s just never going to happen. You have to work with what you’ve got.”  That is a great attitude that more people should have.  Yeah, there are people who are thinner, taller, and in your opinion prettier, but you have to work with what you have to offer.  If you have great legs, wear skirts and shorts!  If you have great arms, wear tube tops!  Other than you body, there is so much more you can offer.  You are creative.  You are smart.  You are insightful.  You can help people.  Accentuate what you do have to offer so you can stop focusing on what you don’t.
