Before reading Tim O’Reilly’s “What is Web 2.0?” and Bryan Alexander’s “Web 2.0 Storytelling” I had never even heard of the term “Web 2.0″. I was feeling a bit lost after reading through the first paragraphs of O’Reilly’s article, but his chart comparing how certain aspects of the web have evolved using big name websites as an example helped me understand a bit. The main thing I saw looking at the chart was how the Web 2.0 tools seemed more, for lack of a better word, efficient than all of the old tools. The web 2.0 tools such as Wikipedia and Flikr in conjunction with the new trends such as tagging and syndication allow for content to be more easily contributed, shared, and found on the web. The chart also makes me wonder if these new characteristics of the web will be able to advance even further, and if so how. The possibilities of blogging and creating with this “Web 2.0″ time seem limitless, but who knows where we will go next.
