Design assignment 5, I completed “On This Day,” for 2 stars. The purpose of this assignment was to use either your first or last name and make it Google Colors and then find something that happened on the day of you birthday (month and day) and then add pictures around your name to symbolize what occurred. I decided to use my last name. I searched “On this day in history february 5th” (http://www.on-this-day.com/onthisday/thedays/alldays/feb05.htm). I choose to do the day Disney release Peter Pan. Reason being, I am a HUGE Disney fan, I love the movies and I love Disney World!
To complete this assignment, I first found a significant event that happened on my birthday. I then opened Photoshop, and inserted a text box. I typed my last name, adjusted the space between the letters, font, font size, and font color to make it resemble the Google Logo. After that, I Googled images that could be used to represent the debuting of Peter Pan, when I found the pictures, I saved them and then inserted the pictures on to the Photoshop page with my name. I used Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook’s hook, a theater seat, the state of New York and a Disney Mickey Mouse Head. After I inserted the pictures, I clicked Layes, arranged and send backwards for each picture. I did this so that the white background around the individual pictures wouldn’t be seen and I could get the actual pictures as close as I could to the letters in my name. Last part of this assignment was to include the event under your name. I inserted a text box, and then types the event into it. I made the font blue, so that it would match the Google blue. After all of this, I created the below image, which I am pretty sure is my favorite. Enjoy!
