Today I was watching “I Love Lucy” for the first time in so long. I used to watch this show all the time when I was little. I was so upset when nick at nite took it off the air – it felt like the loss of a generation to me; my favorite generation to be exact.

In this episode, Lucy is trying to get a role as one of Ricky’s back up dancers. I found it very interesting in this episode how in order to get the part, Lucy had to fit into a size twelve dance costume. Size twelve! Geeze have the times changed! Lucy and all the women around her looked so healthy and beautiful . Nowadays a size double zero is the norm and this is why women never feel pretty enough.

Ideals, values and morals are always changing. I can only hope that one day people’s beauty ideals change.
