Week Two Summary: I’m ready for a nap.

Let me start by saying, I don’t want to type this right now, but it needs to get done…Just let it be known that I’m taking a nap afterwards.

Week Two, you have been full of fun activities but TONS of work. It’s not just DS106, it was my other classes, work, and volunteering. BUT I made it through the week and am finally getting EVERYTHING turned in!

Let’s start simple with TDC(The Daily Create). I think I missed a couple days because I couldn’t make it to a computer, however I did make at least 3, as was required. (I do however feel like I copped out, because they were quick and easy…but hey, who said art can’t be quick and easy?!) Anyways, let’s start with the beginning of the week. TDC239:Niagara

TDC239 was to show a picture of the great outdoors. How did I create this? I pulled out my phone and took a picture of course! No, but really, I was in Niagara Falls for my Grandparents 50th Anniversary a couple of summers of go and I found this gem on my computer…and well, to me, this represents the great outdoors. I can’t remember if I took this picture on the US side or if I took it while I was walking across the bridge to Canada. Either way, I think it’s a great view and perfect for the assignment.

Second was TDC241:Spinning PuckTDC241 was to take a picture of something spinning or in motion. I didn’t have any sweet pictures on my computer so I decided to take one. Since I’m a die-hard hockey fan/player, of course I have some hockey pucks laying around. I love the Washington Capitals and did a 1995-2002 logo puck and spun it. I must have done this 50 times before I finally got a picture I liked. I wanted to have it blurred, but still have people understand what it was and who the team was. You can somewhat make out that it say “capitals” on the left, and if you look at this, you should be able to make out that it is the same logo!

Last, but not least, TDC244:PillowHat?I have a few things to confess. Yes, I have a PillowPet. Yes, she has a name, Holly. Yes, this happens to be another file off my computer. BUT as soon as I saw the assignment, “Take a picture of something being worn as a hat, that has no business being a hat”, I immediately thought of this picture. I was skyping a friend and being a goof, per usual, and this is what happened! It’s a pillow, it’s a pet, IT’S A PillowHAT?!?!

Moving on, I learned AND wrote about The Creative Commons…TODAY! Shocking! But, I did put effort into it and I enjoyed learning about how people copyright their works on the Internet. Here is my post about The Creative Commons. (Or it’s probably right after this post!! XD)

And now, for the title of the class! Digital Storytelling! This week, our assignment was to create a GIF from our favorite movie. And so I chose Harry Potter because that is my favorite movie. Here is what I created:

Alternatively, you can go to my POST about this assignment. I think the HARDEST part of the whole assignment was getting it to embed here on my blog! But thanks to @cogdog, he told me a simple solution, set it to normal size…SET IT TO NORMAL SIZE! I spent a half hour trying to figure this out, GAH! Oh well, got it done ;) Want to know more about that adventure, check the post!!!

I actually customized my blog last week, so I didn’t have any trouble besides figuring out which pictures I wanted to use. I made it more personal with an ambulance in the banner and fire in the background. I volunteer a lot of my time riding/driving an ambulance and am aspiring to get into firefighting. The only other thing I think I would want to customize is maybe have a constant radio scanner in the background of the calls that are going on in my area.

Wait, I’m through bootcamp? Do I get an A? Does that mean it gets easier?! Anyways, I just felt busy all week with work, but I’ve managed my time well and am getting everything done! I’m actually writing this while I’m on duty at the squad, so I’m about to get off and save some lives! But to sum up these past two weeks, I’ve gotten A LOT more involved with my social presence on the Internet. I’ve also used a lot of new software and have learned about making “art”. And the one thing I think I approved on this week is that I added a TON of tags and hyperlinks to all of my work.

Hope you had fun reading, now go check out the rest of my blog if you haven’t already!
