For me storytelling is exactly what it says on the tin, telling a story. It brings to mind people sitting in a circle, maybe around a campfire, sharing stories with words and gestures. Or it could be one person standing in front of a group doing the same thing. People might use visual aids, or write it down in a book to be shared more easily.

Adding the word “digital” to storytelling, doesn’t change much, it is still the process of communicating a story to other people. However the media used is vastly different, one could use animation, sound effects, voices, videos, pictures. It could be using digital media to tell the story as described above, or it could be sharing the story digitally. Thanks to the internet, the audience could be the entire world. When I think of “digital storytelling” i think of stories being told via the internet, especially YouTube.
