To end the semester I: did the The Grand Finale: this changed from my original proposal because once I starting making the projects I just wanted to go with the next thing that popped into my head. I like how it turned out, I think it tells the most detailed story I have told this semester, and flows very well. In week 3 I wrote the Definition of Digital Storytelling to me. I still agree with my definition, generally digital storytelling is was way to share stories through various media’s to a large audience. Screen Capture Story “get footage of something you do on your computer that tells a story.”   This is part 3 to my final story. Part 2 Eliza has shown her parents the Newsweek and they bought it! They are buying her tickets to her Italian adventure as a graduation present. Part 4 I made this video by downloading CaptureMe and taking a series of 10 second screen recordings. Then I combined the recordings with iMovie.

I suggested 2 daily creates: Photography- Take a picture incorporating as many of your favorite things as possible. (people, places, colors, foods, ect..) This week I did 16 stars of Video Assignments: Framed Hitch Cut Supercut Funny Guy Red Visualized I liked the video weeks, once I got the hang of iMovie the most challenging part was finding clips on youtube, which isn’t so bad. iMovie was pretty user friendly, I just had to either drag and drop still frames or upload videos, I think I have the basics down.  

Do the Hitch Cut 4 stars “Make two versions of a shortthree-shot video — in each instance maintaining the first and third shots, but changing out the second shot in each. Can you get a completely different result from your viewer? “ This video shows that emotions are can be interpreted in many ways. Supercut It five stars “Create a supercut montage of overused dialogue, themes, motifs, filmmaking techniques, etc. for a particular character, tv show, film, and/or public figure.” I decided to “supercut” clips of Will Ferrell being overly dramatic. For this assignment the first thing I thought of after reading overused themes was Will Ferrell. He is the same character is EVERY movie he’s in! One Archetype, Five Movies, Five Seconds 3 Stars “Create a five second video of one archetype from five different movies cutting together one second of each.” I choose to use Funny Guys as my archetype: For this project I choose the archetype funny guys, These 5, Jonah Hill, Steve Carrell, Will Ferrel, Michael Cera and Zach Galifainakis are definitely my favorites. Song Visualization 2 stars “Pick a song (or a minute from a song) and create a video that displays a picture representing the lyrics” I choose to visualize the song Red by Taylor Swift: This song was pretty easy to visualize, the analogies in the lyrics are pretty straight forward in describing the intended visuals. This week I: prepped for next week watched a video clip 3 times looked up a little more on my clip Reviewed my video editing software: the video editing software I have available is iMovie and I downloaded MPEG StreamClip. I have never used either of these programs.. hopefully it’s not too hard to get a hang of. Next week I want to try Joining the Conversation there is only one example of it so far an that one wouldn’t open for me, but the assignment seems pretty well explained. I think I may use the end of the clip Protect Your Dreams which I have downloaded, and probably replace Jaden’s lines to make the scene a little lighter, but I still need to come up with witty new dialogue and record it.
