    Unit 8

Telling Stories Within the Web Reading the description for storytelling on the web is daunting to say the least. Manipulating photos or audio is one thing, but actually digging into a web site and manipulating code (or somehow messing with the guts of the site) seems to me to be something altogether different. I agree […]

    Radio Show

    by
Radio Show Poster Poster for the radio show – built on Picadilo after a failed attempt to use Fontstruct which apparently only gives you limited amounts of options to manipulate text unless you pay for the more advanced programs. Here’s what I came up with. I can add all the details about when to listen […]

    Unit 7

    by
I was part of a radio broadcast both in high school and college so I have some experience as far as being a DJ but not as much when it comes to producing a taped and scripted radio show. I noted that in the specs it says we should create a piece that’s equal to […]

    Serial Podcast Annotation (Episode 5)

    by
EPISODE 5 (Ad :00-:20) Detective (:21) Jay, why would Adnan call you? Jay I’m the criminal element of Woodlawn. Ira Glass Previously, on Serial. (music in at :31) Adnan Syed (:33) They said some-something like “we know what you and Jay did” or “we talked to Jay”– and I’m like “Jay? Jay–” like I had […]

    Unit 6

    by
This is unfinished, but it’s a start. Design Listening to the course lecture on design, it was interesting to hear how much simplicity and directness plays into design, with the ability to connect or send a message being tantamount as opposed to being flowery or rich, which risks being overly obtuse. Using symbols, metaphors – […]

    Unit 5

    by
Telling Stories in Photos I listened first to photographer Jason Eskenazi’s video on the art of using photography as a method of storytelling. I never thought of the idea of changing a 3D world to a 2D world – the words “clean, simple, direct” are often not associated with art. We try to pack things […]

    Unit 4

    by
Unit 4 How to Truly Listen As a musician, I was fascinated by the idea that being a musician is all about listening and responding to the parts of music that are not written down.  It worked for me as an analogy to being willing and able to listen to people in order to interpret […]

    Units 3 & 4

    by
Unit 3 We start with the question of “what is storytelling?”. Storytelling to me can be many things. It can be the recounting of a memory, a real-life event that one has witnessed or heard about or a completely made-up tale about an individual, event or situation. The common thread to all of these is that […]

    Figured it out

    by
As you can see, I figured out how to make a GIF. I was able to post it by saving it to my OneDrive on Outlook and then go to the “embed” option and copy the HTML address into the blog page.  Success!

    Bootcamp continued….

    by
I am trying to complete the requirements for d106. I believe I am linked up correctly to the site and I’ve tweeted to the hashtag, so hopefully I’ll see some proof of contact so I know that I’m all hooked up. My vote on the serial is to continue listening in class. I find that […]

    Bootcamp Setups for Class

    by
I am a relative newbie when it comes to social media. But I am excited about this class because it is forcing/encouraging me to jump in with both feet. WordPress – As I saw Larissa also noted in her blog, I had little trouble setting up the blog, but a lot of trouble customizing it. […]
