    M36

    by
February 16, 2015. Spent all day in Building M36 taking 'Stakeholder Engagement' training as part of my ongoing staff development program. This photo is from a display in the lobby of M36. Bitter bitter cold today. Good training, as well as a good lun...

February 15, 2015. 67s game this afternoon in freezing cold Ottawa. New camera but my older zoom lens, which isn't a full frame (still reasonable quality though). I have lots of action shots but I like the composition of this one. I spent time messing...

    Winterlude

    by
February 14, 2015. After a difficult flight to Ottawa just ahead of another Maritime blizzard, I was able to get out for a bit with the new camera and get some night shots of Ottawa's winter festival, Winterlude. From Flickr http://ift.tt/1FckDPJ

    Lexi

    by
February 13, 2015. Just another cat photo, you say. Well, yes. But it's my first upload from my new Nikon D750, and if you look at the full size version of the photo you'll appreciate what this camera can do. As I said to the guy at Ivan's, I'm going ...

    A Patch of Blue

    by
February 12, 2015. It doesn't really come out in this photo (despite my various attempts in Photoshop) but the highlight of the photo should be the patch of blue sky opening up above the trees. A typical winter day in Moncton. From Flickr http://ift.t...

    Body Shop

    by
February 11, 2015. So the seatbelt doesn't retract fully, which resulted in it getting caught in the door and denting it right where the 'open door' sensor touches it, resulting in unwanted (and false) 'door open' alerts. Honda sent me to an auto body...

February 2, 2010. Bart (right) and Lexi (left) are so happy I'm home, they've camped out on my suitcaase and won't let me leave. Another beautiful low low low light shot with my new lens. From Flickr http://ift.tt/1AffjIz

    Coffee

    by
February 09, 2015. Back to Monday, a couple of meetings, catching up on email, spin class, Costco, and a photograph of Andrea's ten-year old coffee plant (which has suffered over the years) with my new lens. New camera? Soon. From Flickr http://ift.tt...

    Coach

    by
The Island Storm coach watches Tyler Murray of the Miracles push around the outside in what was generally a lacklustre 97-87 losing effort for the Moncton side. I achieved extra crispness and colour in my photos with my new lens. I miss being able to ...

    Nifty Fifty

    by
February 7, 2015. The star of this photo isn't Alex - though he looks pretty good - it's my new Nikkor 1:1.54 50mm lens I used to take the photo. I still need to learn about what it can do (and what it can't do) but I already love the crystal clear sh...

    Yorkville

    by
February 6, 2015. I never knew that Yorkville was this whole collection of funky shops and such behind Bloor Steet, but in retrospect I guess I should have known. In any event I was there to arrange for my visa to get into Saudi Arabia, which is where...

    King Street

January 5, 2015. I did a workshop this morning but the bad weather and cold limited attendance to about eight people. This afternoon I had a meeting downtown so I took the subway, getting out here at King Street. From Flickr http://ift.tt/1Ay7UF8

    by
February 4, 2015. This the the hotel where I'm staying in Toronto. It's really quite spectacular, and a short walk from the Old Mill subway station. There are some incredible old rooms inside. Sorry about the grey skies; nothing I can do about that. J...

February 2, 2015. Morning planning meeting and then a flight to Toronto. This is the 12:30 flight - I caught the 2:25 flight - we caught up to them by the time they reached Toronto. The blizzard was just entering Moncton as we left. Happiness. From Fl...

    Driving to the Net

February 1, 2015. Another basketball game today, this time a home loss (though I felt happy for the Halifax fans who made the long trek through the snow to see the game). It has been a long year for both these teams. From Flickr http://ift.tt/1yqXX6M

    Shoveling the Snow

    by
January 31, 2015. It's hard to belive there was no snow on the front lawn a week ago, but there it is. This is a photo of Andrea shoveling the sidewalk in front of the house. The City is supposed to clear the sidewalks but they are very slow and unrel...

January 30, 2015. This is the furnace, fully repaired and purring happily like a kitten with cream. You can also see the rest of the basement, which as you can see is unfinished. I have ambitions, but the basement has a roof height of about 6 and a ha...

    Icicles

January 29, 2015. A deep blue sky and icicles - winter's back. The two-day storm dumped several feet of snow on everything, and these icicles are the inevitable result. The house is nice and toasty, not because the furnace is working (it isn't) but be...

January 27, 2015. It's cold in the house today as the furnace picked today, of all days, to quit. As you can see, there's a blizzard outside the front door. The guy from Enbridge, pictured, found the problem, but with everything closed we'll be a coup...

    Morning Perk

    by

January 26, 2015. I never really watched Friends while it was on TV, but now Netflix has ten seasons available, which should occupy me for a while. Hence, 'Central Perk', which gives me the title of today's photo, taken at Café Codiac, where I get my morning coffee every day, usually in that same red mug. Today I went to the office expecting an open day but had 6 hours of meetings. But I've dedicated this week to closing out some longstanding issues, and they'll be settled by accord or by fiat. Either way is good with me. I need to get back to the business of making great educational applications. P.S. notice the squeaky clean appliances and floors? That's how you brew outstanding coffee. January 25, 2015. Up a bit early today to drive to Charlottetown to see the Moncton Miracles on the road against the storm. After a 120-111 win, we drove home happy. Best day in a week. Maybe more. From Flickr http://ift.tt/1BbA5EY More photos here.

    Sick Day

Jabuary 23, 2015. I needed friendly cats - I bought this picture at a Christmas market in Berlin - because today was a sick day. Which meant only three meetings, dropping off at the dentist, and a run to Costco. I also forgot to put a card in the came...

    Office

    by

January 24, 2015. Still under the weather, staying in all day. I had enough energy to turn my mind to the office upstairs again (notice the paint samples on the wall). I set up the bicycle on the trainer, set up the Wireless TV to play the Miracles basketball game (which as of the half they are trailing badly), and of course, a new signed José Bautista poster on the wall. Put in half an hour or so on the bike, worked up a sweat, and maybe that will chase the last of the ill health away. From Flickr http://ift.tt/1yeju13

    Rainy Days and Mondays

January 19, 2015. Today is 'Blue Monday', so named because it's the most depressing day of the year - dark, dreary, and a good two months from the end of winter. But it wasn't so bad for me - a couple of good meetings, a spin class, and getting some s...
