    Leading a Discussion: Online Cheating

    by
Course INTE 5250: Strategies for Online and Blended LearningFor this course we were given the assignment of leading an online discussion. I was partnered with Erin Dwyer, a high school math teacher, and fellow student in the ILT program and we were given the topic online cheating. Our challenge was to: meet up and discuss how to deliver our discussion, decide what question(s) to ask our peers, deploy our discussion post at the appropriate time, and then proceed with the discussion on our own

    Reflections on the 4th semester

    by
I began my fourth semester of the ILT Master's program at UC Denver about two weeks ago. This semester means I have finally begun the second half of this program and am on my way to crossing the finish line. I thought it would be a good idea to do a little reflection on what I've accomplished so far and how I feel about the program and being a grad student. I chose the picture of the light coming through the trees because it really represents how I feel right now. I finally see the light! I

Final Reflection for Research in Learning Design and Technology

    by
5 at 8:29amThis course was interesting because truth be told, I actually thought it was going to be easy. As a Humanities major I did quite a bit of writing; essays, research papers, and I even wrote a final thesis for my degree. I actually enjoyed all of that writing! This course was not what I anticipated however, it was much more difficult. I assumed that I would thrive in this environment but it was more challenging for me to think critically than I assumed it would be. Maybe it was just

    Chapter 8 New Literacies

    by
Chapter eight of New Literacies was a bit of a letdown for me. To be honest, it was a tough chapter to read. For this chapter the authors gave some examples of New Literacies being used in the classroom. One thing that has driven me crazy with this book is its constant use of examples. Examples can be great for illustrating your ideas and bringing those ideas into the real world however, by this point in the book I have found the authors have really overdone the use of examples. Maybe it’s the

    Digital Stories Final Portfolio

    by
For my graduate coursework in Instructional Learning Technologies I enrolled in the course, Learning with Digital Stories. Here I would like to walk through a final portfolio of selected assignments, theme responses, and story critiques to highlight some of the work I’ve completed in the course and reflect on what I’ve learned.  First Focal Theme ResponseWhen I was trying to come up with my focal theme for the semester it was quite difficult for me. I kept coming back to the theme of motherhood

    Week 15 Story Critique

    by
I am going to finish up this semester with my last digital story critique by evaluating my favorite form of digital storytelling that I’ve discovered this semester: the podcast. I know I talked at great length about Serial previously and I’d like to finish by discussing Serial season two. Much like season one I binge listened to Serial season two in a weekend however, it wasn’t complete when I was listening so I had to wait for the last few episodes. Let’s just say that when my phone notified me

    Week 14 Focal Theme Response

    by
For this week, since it is my last one to explore my focal theme, motherhood, I really wanted to delve into what I think makes someone a mother. I found this article called, What Makes a Mother and I was really struck by how lovingly the author, Sarah Hoffman, talks about this topic. She is adoptive mother, but I don’t know that we really need that qualifier anymore. Do we really need to qualify it? Step mother, dog mother, adoptive mother, foster mother.  Why do people feel like they have to do

    Week 14 Story Critique

    by
Listening for my Great Grandfather - a Digital Story by Kyle Bajakian I found this story on the Story Center's YouTube channel. The title stood out to me, I have found through looking for digital stories to critique for my course in Learning with Digital Stories, that stories that have to do with family, especially loved ones who are gone, particularly stand out to me. I love the idea of sifting through old photographs of grandparents and discovering aspects of their lives you didn't know

    Week 14 Daily Create

    by
For this week's daily create I chose one from last week. It was to find a special tree and take a photo. I went to my saved photos and this one jumped out at me, I took it on the last day I spent in Maui a few years ago. We were driving back to the airport and jumped out of the car when we spotted this little park. Took off my sandals and ran down to the beach one last time, it was worth it, behind me is huge black lava rocks and the tide was coming in. I took this walking back to the car, those
