    Week 8 Daily Create

    by
Today's daily create was to write a story on Twitter! I liked that idea and the first thing to come to mind was when I woke up this morning, how could it be that I could believe it was Friday when it was only Tuesday?

    Week 8 Focal Theme Response

    by
As I look for articles or scholarship to write about for my focal theme it seems that almost everything I come across speaks of the joyous wonderment of motherhood. Of the trials, the tribulations, heartbreak, and ultimate reward that comes with motherhood. On the opposite end I find articles about women who chose not to be mothers and just fine with that. They justify over and over again how great their lives were or how much wine they drink, or much fun they have. Both of these types of

    Week 8 Design Assignment

    by
For this week's assignment from DS106's assignment bank I chose, "Dog It Out." If it's not obvious yet I love my dogs so naturally I was drawn to an assignment that involved using a picture of your dog. In this assignment you were to take a picture of your dog and upload it into some software that will allow editing. This is an older picture of my Yorkie, Haley, but one of my favorite pictures of her. I did a birthday theme because of all of my pets she is only one who has an official birthday

Week 8 Story Critique: Serial (continued)

    by
*Warning* There are spoilers in this post about the podcast: Serial (It's been out for quite awhile but since it's new to me I thought I would warn of the spoilers!)   This week I would like to complete another critique of the podcast, Serial. I finished the entire podcast in one weekend! I know when you watch the entire series of Breaking Bad on Netflix you binged watched it but I wonder what we can call it when you binge a podcast?!? It’s strange because it’s not exactly the same thing. I put

    Personal Reflection Week 7

    by
*Gratuitious picture of my dog*   These past two weeks have been busy, very busy. Both at work and in school. Things really kicked into gear this week, maybe nothing changed, maybe it was just my perception of them! In the New Literacies book I read about remixing and my definition of that word changed a bit. Before that chapter I really only thought of music when it came to remixing but after I read this chapter it became clear to me that remixing can apply to different art and media genres and

    Chapter 4 New Literacies

    by
As I was reading this chapter this week certain ideas and concepts really started coming together for me. First off, this chapter was focused on remixes, specifically digital remixing. The authors gave many examples of remixing, some I hadn’t even thought of as remixing. Of course the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about remixes is music. Maybe it’s because when I was growing up it seems like remixing music was all the rage, I know it wasn’t necessarily a new concept but I think

    Daily Create Week 7

    by
Today's daily create was all about leap day. The task was to post an image that represents taking a leap. My very first thought was of the Tower Bridge in London. Last year they opened a glass floor section of the walkway across the top. My mom and I happened to be there right after it opened and of course had to check it out. It was a little hard to step onto the glass floor at first, there were cars and double decker buses flying by below. Here's my picture of stepping onto the glass. My foot

    Week 7 Story Critique

    by
Serial Podcast I decided to do something different for this week’s digital story critique. I did something I had never done before, I listened to a podcast. I have seen “Serial” many times in the last few months but never really gave much thought as to what it was. I started to really take notice of it after I watched Making a Murderer on Netflix last month. I was searching online for stories about the series and one caught my eye, If you like Making A Murderer you will like Serial. Still I

    Daily Create- Week 6

    by
The daily create I chose this week was pretty simple, tell a story with hashtags. Since it was Monday morning I just went with the first thing on my mind: Coffee. Let's be serious, I love coffee so it often on my mind :) So here's my hashtag story of Monday morning:

Week 6 Story critique– something different

    by
Why Storytelling Matters: A TedX Talk by Garr Reynolds   Each week in Learning with Digital Stories we are supposed to evaluate and critique a digital story. For this week though, I decided to do something different, I hope that’s OK and if it’s not, Oh well it’s too late I’ve already done it! This week I was looking at YouTube and searching for digital stories and I noticed that there were many results in which people were talking about digital stories, or how to make digital stories, or the
